Bio

Welcome to the Educational Services department where we provide a wide array of supports for educators and students that include curriculum and instruction, professional development opportunities, safety and school climate resources and training, foster youth services, Indian Education programs for Native American students, Child Welfare and Attendance resources, Homeless education, health education support including providing a comprehensive Tobacco Use and Prevention program, alternative education opportunities, and early childhood education programs.

We work closely with our districts and charters in providing technical and differentiated support toward improving student performance using improvement science methodologies. Our team leads a few well-known and successful events yearly in the county, including hosting a yearly professional development day that is county-wide for all teachers, administrators and classified staff. We host a STEAM Expo (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) event held at the county fairgrounds that highlight student projects in all these areas. We host the county-wide academic tournaments that feature student talents in geography, spelling, writing and speaking. And finally, Educational Services partners with many county and state organizations that help bring quality and engaging opportunities for our educators and students; such as the Nevada County Arts Council, Sierra College, Sierra Streams Institute and Music in the Mountains, California Department of Education and California Collaborative for Educational Excellence.
