The Nevada County Superintendent of Schools Facilities & School Safety department supports school districts in maintaining safe, modern, and compliant learning environments. This includes oversight and guidance on school construction and modernization projects, facilities planning, maintenance, and compliance with state requirements. As part of this commitment, the department has partnered with the California Department of Education to implement the federal Supporting America’s School Infrastructure (SASI) program, which provides facilities support to over 250 small schools statewide. The department also coordinates school safety efforts such as emergency preparedness, Comprehensive School Safety Plans, safety trainings and drills, and collaboration with local law enforcement and first responders to ensure schools are ready to respond effectively to emergencies.
