The County Committee on School District Organization plays an important role in decisions about how school districts are formed and changed within the county. The Committee reviews proposals that affect school district boundaries and holds public hearings so community members can share their input.
After considering each proposal, the Committee may approve it, deny it, or forward recommendations to the California State Board of Education, depending on the circumstances. The Committee may also develop plans and recommendations for organizing or reorganizing school districts within the county, or, when appropriate, across county lines.
The County Committee operates under the authority of the California Constitution, state law, and regulations adopted by the California State Board of Education.
