Wear Green in support of Homeless Youth Awareness Month

The Family Resource Centers and the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools (NCSOS) are sponsoring the 2nd annual Latino Family Festival on Thursday, September 14th from 5:00PM-8:00PM. Everyone is invited to attend the celebration of Latinx cultures at Condon Park in Grass Valley. Connecting local families to community partners is one of the many reasons why we are sponsoring the festival. Over 40 local agencies will be participating in the festival to share with families about health services, wellness opportunities, social services, education, art and much more. Bilingual staff will be in attendance to allow families full access to the information available. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner, or purchase some tacos from El Barrio, and enjoy some Latino DJ music, dancing, and face painting.
The Grass Valley School District will be hosting the Seamless Summer Program this summer at 5 sites in Nevada County. The program offers free breakfast and lunch depending on the site, for all children 18 years or younger.

SAVE THE DATE — NCSOS will be hosting a Summer Arts Institute for Nevada County classroom teachers entitled: BE THE SPARK – Ignite Your CORE Through Arts Integration! The desired outcomes of the institute are to inspire & empower teachers to integrate the arts with ease into their core curriculum and build their confidence to do so.
The intention is for teachers to experience arts integration workshops and to leave with practical ideas to do so, no matter their grade or content area. Please be a part of building the capacity of our county teachers to engage the creativity and curiosity of their students which promotes academic achievement and social emotional well-being.
The institute will be held Tuesday, June 13 at Nevada City School of the Arts. Breakfast and lunch are included. Registration opens May 1.
